Lemington Lantern Festival

The residents of Lemington were greeted by a wonderful sight when they looked out of their windows last night.

Candlelit Lanterns carried, and made, by our children were paraded through the streets to the Lemington Centre where we were met by hot soup and roast chestnuts.

Class 3 Carol Singing

The Children's Foundation must have raised lots yesterday judging by how many people stopped to hear Class 3 singing in Eldon Square.

We certainly spread Christmas cheer with our lovely singing.

After building up an appetite by singing for an hour, we very much enjoyed our Christmas treat of lunch at Pizza Hut in The Gate!

Wriggly Nativity!

Well done Class 1 & 2- you all did a fabulous job with your Christmas performance.  We are so proud of you all.  I don't think there was a dry eye in the house!

Christmas Stars

Last week, the whole school got together for a special prayer service to ask for God's blessing on all of those people we are remembering at this special time of year.

All of the Remembrance Stars you sent back into school are now hanging on our Christmas Tree - I'm sure all those named are watching over our Christmas preparatins with a big smile on their face.

Class 3 at The Lit & Phil

Following a very successful visit there in September, Class 3 were invited back to the "Lit & Phil" for an event with their president Alexander Armstrong (Pointless, Armstrong & Miller) and the well known children's author Anne Fine.

In preparation for the day, we read "Return of the Killer Cat" by Anne Fine as we knew Alexander Armstrong would be reading us "A Killer Cat's Christmas".

We were all very excited and rightly so! We had a wonderful afternoon - and it was commented on by several people, including the celebrity guests, how well behaved and well mannered our children were.

Mr Armstrong and Ms Fine signed anything and everything for us - a poster and book are now proudly displayed in our school library.

Class 3 with Anne Fine!

Incredible Eyptians at Great North Museum

Class 3 went to Great North Museum: Hancock to round off all of our topic work on "The Egyptians".  We were very much looking forward to seeing a real mummy - even though Mrs Douglass had been warned of the 'Mummy's Curse'.

We enjoyed seeing not only the Egyptian exhibits, but also some of the Ancient Greeks - which reminded us of the myths we'd been learning about in Literacy.

Christmas Fayre

Our wonderful PTA arranged our Christmas Fayre, with a Bottle Stall, Tombola, Cakes as well as a range of Christmas crafts handmade by each class in school.  There was also a VERY successful raffle - which raised over £200 by itself!

Thank you to all those who attended and helped the PTA raise some much needed funds.

Class 1 & 2 Carol Singing at Monument Mall

On November 29th, Class 1 and 2 raised £115 for charity by sharing their beautiful singing with the Christmas shoppers at Monument Mall.

Class 1 made a day of it, having lunch in Fenwicks' before visiting Santa's Grotto and going to see this year's Christmas Window.

Well done Class 1 and 2!
